Tornado?

Hey man if you do a search of either this or the talk forum we had a decent conversation on it a while ago.

most people have no idea if they have any improvement in mileage or hp, because they have no idea what they started with. thus they spend $80 on a device that is supposed to improve things, and thus they claim an improvement.

Its a scam, think about it how would creating turbulance in the air before it reaches the fuel do anything? If it happened right before or at the same time maybe, but i doubt it dont waste your money. A good tune up would yield better results.

BTW- If these things really did work, then why wouldnt they come with them from the factory?

I don't know if these things work; but I know why they might not come "stock" from the auto manufacturers. Frankly, it's because of the financial comptrollers - aka "the bean counters"!

Taking "the Tornado" as an example: Let's say this guy is good for 10 more ponies and an equal increase in torque and 3 more mpg. The engineers would love it! They'd be pushing for a "tornado" on every last car sold! Now, let's next assume that rbohm's retail price is $80 reflects a wholesale/manufacturing cost of $45; and that 200,000 units will be produced. How are you gonna convince the stockholders and banks that you should spend an extra $9 million on an improvement that may or may not increase your real-world sales potential?

Now, looking at it from a consumer standpoint; I would be interested in something with a proven track record like that..... last time I filled up the trucks, gas averaged from $1.74/gal (87 octane) to $2.02/gal (91 octane). The Rice-Eating Chevy Truck took 21 gallons to fill (5 gallons obviously left in the tank); the '02 Dodge Ram coasted into the station on fumes and asked for 27.4 of 28 gallons (it's got the infamously hungry 5.9l/ 360CID Mopar motor). The Tornado would be worth 80 bucks to me; compared to the cost of filling 5 tanks of gas on either vehicle! However, I'd be spending (on two vehicles) the princely some of $160 - not $9 million!

to understand how it would possibly work. Knowing physics relatively well (I do engineering), I cannot understand how this would work. Now, if it were done on the intake valves (Aka swirls) it would work, as it would increase the velocity of air coming into the valve. Swirling the air in the intake tube makes no sense to me at all. Say you get an average 2 mpg extra, and you drive a car that gets 20 mpg with a 20 gallon tank. Now you would be gettiing 22 mpg with the same 20 gallon tank. You would be driving an extra 40 miles on each tank, converted to dollars it would save approximately 4 US dollars.

Thus, in one year, driving 8000 miles, you would regain back the money you spent. This is however only if you get 20mpg. I am supposed to sell these at Pep boys, but I can't bring myself to do it.
