No onever talks about torque box repair. How difficult is it and what is the procedure? Do I need the floors out to do it?

I did both sides on my 68 not terribly hard a lil time consuming. you'll need part of the floor as well, it'll make life alot easier.

I just did one on a 70 Boss 302. It needed toe boards and a front floor pan so ripping it all out made things easier. I put it in from the bottom which may or may not be the best way but its the way I chose...I had to bend up the part that lays over top the frame rail then heat it wit a torch to lay it back down. Looks fantastic though. Solid as a rock. THe other side is not as bad so am patching that one. Its not a routine repair IMO. BUt I am glad it turned out as good as it did.
I am thinking of adding front torque boxes to my 66 coupe, but the floors and one front frame rail have already been replaced (the other frame rail was still good). Now I'm worried that the torque boxes should have been installed while the floor was out. Does anyone know if torque boxes can just be welded in without removing the floors (or any other labor intesive tasks)?
I already have the carpet out of the car, so shouldn't have to worry about starting any fires. I just don't want to buy torque boxes if they are almost impossible to install with the floors welded in...

since yours did not come with them I would just weld in some 2X4 box tubing and call it a day. Far cheaper and easier. I plan on removing mine and using 2X4 1/8 tubing on mine.
