allow me to demonstrate my ignorance; I have never heard of Hughes. Having said that, I have heard of Edge from guys who do a lot of racing and they swear by them.

more often than not, you get what you pay for when it comes to converters. There is a good reason why some converters cost $200 more than others. I'd be suspect of anything that costs less than a B&M or TCI, as they are already on the cheap end of the scale. I run an ATI converter, it cost about $440 but its worth every penny.

Edge makes some very good quality converters. I am 100% happy with them. Add to the fact all of them are custom built . . .

I'm taking a trip tomorrow to PTC torque converters (www.ptcrace.com) to have my torque converter re-flashed for a higher stall. The owners are former engineers from TCI. They come highly recommended by a lot of good racers around here. Instead of paying $650 for a new converter it should only cost me $150 to have mine rebuilt for a higher stall.

So PTC (Performance Technology Converters) is a good brand? I bought my TQ through a local tramsmission shop who supposedly had it custom made and brought in. The price wasn't bad and they had the TQ in within a couple of weeks so I just figured they had one sitting in a warehouse somewhere. Performance converters for an FMX arn't all that easy to come by.

Either way, mine's been working great for about 4 years now.
