torque wrench doesn't read in/lbs do I have to buy one?

to reinstall the oil pan on my car it says to torque to 110-114 in/lbs, my torque wrench reads in ft/lbs, what is the damn conversion. Do I need to buy another torque wrench? I got my torque specs from the Brothers performance catalog, if this is wrong please let me know.

12 inches in a foot. so you want to be about ~9.5 ft/lbs (10 ft/lbs would be 120 inch pounds).

i dont know what the correct spec is.
also, a 1/4 inch torque wrench would be best - the closer to an extreme you are with the wrench, the less accurate it will be. most 1/4 inchers are good for small torque values.

just tighten it till the gasket is smashed boom done it wont leak

or you can do it the old timers way...run all the bolts up snug...then do a half turn on all..then a 1/4 turn...pans on with no leaks. and you won't snap any bolts.

Actually you would think that 12in lbs would be 1ft pound but it isn't a direct comparison. I would invest in a ftlb wrench, stay away from the Craftsman wrenchs they break easy.

I find I like my beam wrench for stuff under 25ftlbs...

Proper tq is very important.....

You must be kin to Oliver, the crop duster pilot from Nicaragua that I used to work with. His favorite saying was “Tighten it up until it smokes and back off a ¼ turn.” After I saw him try to straighten out a steel wing brace with an acetylene torch and a ladder propped under the wing, I decided that his methods definitely left something to be desired.
