alright guys a have a question.. its a doozy.. my car was running like crap. i changed the ignition boots, the fuel filter, and spark plugs and it didnt do the trick.. my coil packs worked fine. then i decided to change the TPS sensor. that fixed the problem. the car runs like a dream. but when i go to start it up again it shoots me the "Service Engine Soon". the code is from the TPS. but when put on my old one the car runs like crap but the service engine soon light doesnt come out. now the TPS i got is from my friends 03 GT... Now both cars use the same TPS. by that i mean they're both the same part Number. my question is.. Why does the service engine light come on when i use the good TPS? and my ****ty TPS doest give the Code

adjustent?

Robert,
Did you adjust the TPS sensor? You have to twist it until the proper voltage is set on the sensor. I did it a long time ago. I'm sure you can find instructions on the internet for doing it. When I put my new plenum and throttle-body on there were instructions about how to adjust it. The car won't run properly if that voltage is not in the aceptable range.

The TPS on 96+ MY's do not have to be adjusted. The PCM "learns" the closed throttle voltage when the engine is started.

If someone is telling you that the TPS needs to be adjusted, they are thinking about cars 1995 and older.

It would help if you stated the model year of your car as well as the DTC codes.

It would also help if you explained in greater detail how the car was "running like crap".

When swapping TPS sensors, check to be sure there isn't a vacuum leak. IMO that is more likely the reason your car is running poorly.
