This evening I talked with Brian from SAACNW and got some more information about the July 11th track day, basically clarification on a couple of questions and some discussion about run group size.

1. "Radiator catch can" means overflow tank on a modern car. Nothing special required, the wording on the rules is because older Mustangs didn't have overflows.

2. Gloves can basically be pretty much anything, provided that it is non-synthetic. Leather preferred. Nomex a good idea too.

3. There are going to be about 25 people in the third run group. Brian says he normally likes to keep run groups at 20 or less, so he is considering what to do to make run groups 3 & 4 smaller, perhaps adding another run group and re-grouping things.

It sounds like they definitely did not expect this many people to sign up, but that it is very hit or miss -- sometimes a lot of people show, sometimes nobody does. They lost a good chunk of money last year, so they're only putting together two track days this year.

I'm a little bit concerned about having a run group of 20+ cars, hopefully that'll turn out to be a non-issue. Brian did mention the possibility of upgrading to group 2 if I have a problem with slow cars getting in the way, but I really don't anticipate doing that. I just don't plan to push the car hard enough to be -that- fast. Especially with a 100% street setup . (read: unlike Keith, I do not intend to set my brake pads afire).

We need to start on this guy first thing Monday morning. Hopefully he'll move things around so we don't get trapped.

Because those gloves are only ment for one thing. Mechanix gloves aren't.

Aren't the Mechanix gloves made with synthetic fabric in addition to leather?

I ended up getting a pair of these: http://www.simpsonraceproducts.com/products/product_detail.aspx?cat_id=123&prod_id=996

Those are Karting gloves. Karting gloves offer no fire protection and are ment to protect you from abrasions.
The Simpson gloves Rootus bought are the type of glove people should be looking for. Also, don't buy a glove just because of the name. There are several less expensive brands that are just as good of a glove. If you only do one or two track days a year Crow, G Force or a like brand will work great.

As always, it was a pleasure to meet everyone, and I had a good time today. Even though it is only "legal speeding," I really enjoyed ripping around PIR. I do believe I improved throughout the day, and by the last session I was howling around the corners pretty good. I mean that literally . Those all-season tires give lots of warning before they totally lose grip.

Until next time...

Oh yeah! Once again, a great time!! Though the day started out freakin' slow, the last half more than made up for it, and probably changed my mind about running with them again. Too bad I began having troubles or I would have been out there that last time with you Keith. Turns out my #1 cylinder was misfiring pretty badly. No low end. Until the next run...

I missed out big time! I wanted to run and had paid admission, but last night I was up until 5:30am helping a friend with his car. I figured it'd be best if I didn't try to run with 30min. of sleep. I showed up for lunch hour and then had to take off again.
Can't wait until next time.

Engine Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
