This past Friday we had a track rental. Father, brother and myself went up along with a bunch of Mustang club members.

I switched to 4.10s, and otherwise did nothing to the car. At this track I normally run 13.0 - 13.1 @ 105. Friday I was going 13.3s @ 104. 4.10s seem like too much for the power band. Crossing the traps up around 5800-6000 is just too much.

My brother went high 11s on two passes last year. This season did a couple mods and although had no intention of besting his fall, cold air, great track record, he started running well. A string of 11.92-11.96 passes, like a bracket car. He tossed me the keys and I went for a pass that my friend caught part of on video. I snagged an 11.88 @ 113 with a crappy (for this car) 1.61 60'. This morning my brother actually bested his old record, by going 11.81 @ 114. Not bad for a GT40P/Cobra intake/cam car.

Enjoy the partial video, and hopefully I can get one or two up of mine and my fathers car.

Stock bottom end, gt40ps with a valve job, rockers, cobra intake, tbody, maf, 24 lb injectors, long tubes, x pipe, dumps, stock T5 with a clutch, shifter, 31 spline rear with 4.10s. Was a factory stick style street car.

I can't believe that launches that hard don't blow up the trans. I guess if you don't have a crazy clutch, they seem to hold up. My car is mainly stock, i'd like to throw some slicks on and launch at 5k haha. My clutch is a stock replacement so i'm hoping that would die before my trans does.

I'm still trying to do some type of track rental at Atco. Problem is having time to coordinate it :(

That is the biggest factor. If you have a hard hitting clutch with the stock T5 or even the Z it pretty much will waste the tranny in no time. There is plenty of hate for the T5 but I know plenty of guys doing some serious duty with them w/o major issues.

Brian not suprised by the your 1/4 time and rpms, nice job in brothers car :nice:

Thanks, yes the backfire has been in that car for a while. It actually usually backfires during the shifts, makes it sound more harsh than it is.

The 60' there is actually the worst of the day by far. That video was a 1.611. The car was going 1.54-1.58 60's the rest of the day. He might even have something lower.

Hopefully I can snag a breakdown of his 11.81 pass. Can't wait to get the car into the cool fall air, on a well prepped track.

Now that I think about it, I don't know if I've ever heard of a T5 breaking on the launch. It seems like it's always on the 1-2 or the 2-3 shift.

That's just a trend I've noticed. I'm sure there are people out there who have shattered them on the launch.
