ok here is my problem i am tall and the original seat tracks were not meant for me... what should i do? it there a way to move the tracks back or are there ones out there for taller people...thanks
I'm not aware of longer seat tracks, although i think i remember reading an article by mustangs plus about modifying the seat pans to move the whole thing back. My problem is that the aftermarket seats i have are too tall, so i'm going to have to lower that part of the floorpan.
I lowered my seat pans and that ended up not being enough room for my 6'2" frame. The second thing I did was move the seat tracks further back on the pan.
Here is a link to a web page (that I never finished) which shows how I made brackets that set the seats back either 2-3", depending on which set of holes the original seat tracks are installed.:
I have made a set of bolt-on adapters which relocate the seat back 2 1/2". No welding is required to make these adapters and they don't require any special hardware. Also the seat can be returned to stock condition at any time.
Email me at [email protected] and I'll send you a Word document that describes how to make them.
