i wanted to know how hard it really is to do the trac lok..a buddy of mine works at a ford dealership and wanted 75-100 for the labor of doin it...sounded high considering it doesnt seem that hard....any help would be appreciated

Maby not that hard to do, but it is time consuming and a PITA. Dissassebly was pretty straight forward but getting the spider gears in with the new/extra clutches is quite tight but is made much easier by partly installing the axels and using them to turn the gears in. Then that S spring you just have to hold it right, it sprung across the shop a few times on me. It stinks and is quite messy, took me a few days to get that smell out of my skin.
Well, I got my "performance" rebuild done last night. It took me about 4 hours. I had help from a couple of friends, who turned the axles for me as I slipped the spiders in. At first, I just put in the .025 shims. They went in pretty easy. I decided to go up to .035 shims and they wouldn't go. The spiders wouldn't mesh right. Then I dropped back to .030 and it went together snug, but it did go. I had a hard enough time getting the stock s spring back in, so I didn't even attempt the F150 s spring. One problem I had was the spring tweaked the spiders just enough that I couldn't get the pin to go back in. I had to pull it off and redo until it was right. I haven't taken it for a drive yet, but I feel sure I'm gonna' like it.
OH HELL YEEEEEAAAHH! I LIKE IT!!! Best $60 I ever spent! Well...and four hours of my time...but still, I'm a happy boy. That puppy locks up tight now. I can hear the inside tire digging into the pavement when I make a slow, sharp turn.
