I just got my motor together after putting in the new rod. And this was the first time I've gotten to play with it since the new rings, heads, carb....etc. The drag radials don't hold at all anymore. I give it some gas at 25 mph and the tires don't want to hold. I'm going to get rid of my SSM's, but I'm too cheap to pay for Caltracs. Slicks would work, but that would mask to problem. I want to make it difficult on myself. I want to run fast on drag radials, too!! Here's what I got. I got the directions on the internet on how to build the caltracs and I've got the rod ends already(my local speed shop had them in stock!!!!). But I need to know from someone who has them, what are the measurements. I need the center to center on....... The eyebolt to where the rod end connects and.... from aprox. the center of the axle to where to the rod connects at the lowest part in the back. I would gladly be you best friend forever. Thanx in advance. :D

I'm not a proponent of outright copying someone elses R&D :nono: , so I say get out there and do the measuring yourself. Its a good chance to do some math and have fun with a tape measure, plus it makes the whole project more "yours" as opposed to a buy-it-on-credit, bolt-it-on-car paradigm.

Oh jeez I knew someone would say that. But here's the problem with that. This is someone who has a good product and is doing what's called "cornering the market." He doesn't sell them through anyone but himself, and so he charges through the nose for them for parts that total less then $75. And you know why he does? BECAUSE HE CAN!!! And when you do this, you have to expect people like me to do this. I guarantee that more than 80% of people in here would make their own heads if they could do it themselves for 200 bucks and get the EXACT same product. Oh Yeah.. I'm going to call them "DUSTRACS" becaue the whole thing is based on the idea of racing on a budget.

Go for it. I am going to build a set for myself and a friend. Any time one makees something that works as opposed to buying it, its impressive. If you do it, post some pics.

Alright. I will try to take them to the track on Wed. It all depends on when I get my strut rod bushings and how long it takes my machine
shop to tap for the rod ends. I went to take it last Wed. and found out that my strut rod bushings were shot after the car sat for a year and a half. If I can't have the DUSTRACS ready in time, I'll go with the SSM for S & G's.
