I know. I know. Don't laugh. I've been meaning to post this for a few weeks. (After I drove to Dayton to pick up an engine and transmission in my dad's old Ford pickup truck. Yes, my Mustang has spoiled me.)

I was wondering if someone makes a hitch to tow a small trailer. (Maybe 4' x 6') It would be nice to have something like this to haul small items like engines and stuff, without having to have a pickup truck around. I would really like to have one that stays tucked under the bumper, out of sight, when not in use. A Class 1 (500# rating, I think) would be more than enough.

To make matters worse (funnier!), my Mustang will be getting the Eibach Pro-Kit, later this Summer. My girlfriend already thinks it would be funny to see a lowered Mustang pulling a trailer. She doesn't really even know about cars and see's the humor in it. Grrrrr.

Don't worry about replying guys. By the time Rob goes to post again, 94-95 Land will have disowned him.

Just messing.

I cannot offer help except to say that I have indeed seen a couple of 94-98's with hitches. They were not especially hidden however. You could just unbolt it, right?

Will there be a tongue issue with the car being so low? I have a Pro kit (with isolators) if you want something measured.

Good luck.

Custom make one. Get creative. Maybe make it in the trunk so it passes through under the license plate?

I was kind of considering that. If I do it, I'll make it come out through the "blackout" area, under the "Mustang GT" on the rear bumper. I can cover that with a peice of trim, when the hitch is not in use.

"Hail Mary" x 10, "Our Father" x 2 Will that get it done?

I would think that the sin would be absolved by toting engines and things around for my 'Stang and other manly projects. It's not like I'll be hauling pretty flowers, Beanie Babies or Chevy parts around.

You guys are tough.

One of my buddies dad is on this forum, and he has a trailer hitch on his new GT. He had to use a universal wiring harness for it and crap. You could try PMing him. His name on here is D.Hearne

Maybe look into a "Euro J hitch" (i think thats what they are called)

When not in use they tuck up behind the bumper, I know that some Audi All-roads come with them. Completely tucked away when not in use.

I have one for sale that is on a 1994 GT as I bought it with it on there and I will not be towing with it (previous owner in Cali towed his bike to a track a couple of times). Let me know if you want it. I am In Springboro, Ohio but the my car is in Columbus, Ohio (long story, just moved and the people who were supposed to close on my house down there a month ago still haven't...) Don't know how much they cost so make an offer it's in good condition...

I'm in Columbus, too. Maybe I could look at it sometime? If not, maybe you could snap a pic, or two? (Post em here, "Therian" wants to see it.) New, they are in the $100-$150 range. Let me know.

I mdont think its a bad Idea since noone close to me has a truck to lend. also it would be able to tow my jetski.

I would want one that unbolts so you can save weight and it wont look so bad.

it would be nice to tow things.

ive got a hitch on my gt. its not really even noticeable. its tucked under the bumper and you can remove the bracket that the ball is bolted to. i got it to tow small things and i also have a 15 foot boat that i tow with it. i will say that the car will tow the boat as good as a smaller truck. i will post pics of the hitch. i got it from a local trailor shop and it cost me about 160 bucks installed.
