Ok i fudged up my tranny...it just poped outta third and from then on every gear makes a **** load of noise and vibrations(knocking). i was able to get it back home...

i want to get a new tranny.. any suggestions?? i read that the t56 is good, but its freaking 3500$ plus i gotta get a longer speedo cable(cuz the hole for the speedo sensor is on the passenger side)...plus the mounts on the frame rail..anyways hears the link http://www.mustangandfords.com/techarticles/138_0309_viper_mustang_trans/

my question is is their any other suggestion and comments on this and other transmissions out their???

You could look at a upgrade for your internals. a g-force is a good tranny as well as the tko 500 and 600.

Second the Gforce upgrade or a TKO500/600 upgrade. Do a search on the forum and you will find a lot of good information and debate between the two.

You could always go for a T-5Z, its availble through Ford Racing and is supposed to have stronger internals and a less steep 1st gear. You could also have your transmission rebuilt. Just a couple of less expensive options, but it depends on how much power you are trying to get to the rear wheels.

I would probably suggest the junkyard route if you're on a budget like a lot of us. If my T5 gives out, I know that's what I'll be doing.

I don't know what other cars came with T5's. You could also check on Craigslist or other classifieds and find someone who's parting out a wrecked stang.

If you are building a dart block 600hp engine, don't waste a dime on anything other than a tk0 500 or 600. Because it's just money you'll have to spend twice if you buy something else.

Yep it will fit. I know it has a lower 1st gear than the V8 trans, but I'm pretty sure it will bolt right in. I also don't know if it is as strong as the V8 version. Someone here will know for sure, I know guys here have put 4cyl T5's in their cars.

You may also have to use the V8 bellhousing on the 4cyl trans, don't know.

You need a 4 banger pilot bearing to make it work.

Probably an auto parts store or ford.
