Tranny Dead?

Most likely one of five things:
1) The linkage has been seperated from the transmission. Even though your shifting the gear selector, it's not going into gear as far as the transmission goes.
2) Your clutch packs are toast. It could have been an abused car or trated badly with neutral drops and with enough milage or rough driving, the packs have simply worn out to the point where they can't grab. If so, it'll need a rebuild.
3) Your tranny filter could be clogged or there might not be any fluid in there at all. When you put it into gear, the fluid can't run down the tracks and no pressure is present to engage into gear. I had to change my filter when it had taken longer and longer for the car to eventually :clunk: into gear (a duration or 1 to 5 seconds or so).
4) Torque converter broken? It's possible that it seperated and hasen't been able to grab.
5) The simplest to check for. If it's sat so long, maybe the driveshaft or another part of the drivetrain has been removed.

I'm thinking it's most likely #1 or #3.
