tranny goes BOOM!

So im cruz'n 1st, shift to 2nd, step on it hard, shift to 3rd and all i hear is a quick whiny grind which then turns into slower harsh grinds as the car is slowing down. As i come to a stop i notice it was REALLY hard to get into any gear. Within 5min. it was impossible to get it in any gear except 4th which couldnt even get it in all the way. Didnt see any fluids leak and havent had a chance to glance the underside, but anyone have any ideas of what might have happened?
History: Earlier (sameday) i was cruz'n the stallion and for the first time i ran it the same way as ^^(story above) but when i got to 3rd i ran it to its fullest to see what my rev limiter was which is 6800 then shifted to 4th and let off the gas and kept cruzn... stupid mistake Im now guessing the tranny cant handle the hp/torque?

I can't answer definitively, but I hope it isn't the trans! I have more W built, with a T5 waiting to go in...

When I grenaded my old T-5, it sounded something like what you described, and definitely happened on a 2-3 shift. When I opened the case, there was so much shrapnel it was pretty difficult to figure out what failed first. It looked like a bomb went off in there.

Good luck. Consider a Astro A-5 or G-force T-5.

T5's were made for S10's. It's a piece of junk. Get a real tran's and save
yourself some headaches.
