Tranny Noise

My tranny is very whhiny. But it also sounds like something vibrates and sounds like metal kinda hitting each other. What is it? Tranny mounts? And it usually does it at idle and sometimes will driving

Mine did this tonight when I took it up past 5500rpm @ WOT. I think it is the shifter vibrating against the end stops.

but at idle? It cant hit that hard, well at least not as loud as mine sounds to hit

Sorry, missed the idle part. Are running a catted X-pipe? Could it be rattling? Maybe the smog tube that runs down along the firewall to the cross over area of the exhaust is making contact.

good thinking my headers is loose were it connects to the x-pipe, but if i recall corectly it was doing before it got loose. What do worn out tranny mounts do or sound like?
