Hey, I have a 20K mile 2001 GT Convertible with an auto tranny. The car feels like its missing or the tranny is slipping in 2nd and 3rd gear from 1200-1800 rpms. I have it in for service (they said it was the tranmny) but any ideas on what this could be and what they will need to do to fix it? Not my prob as its under warranty from Carmax but Im curious how long Ill be out of a vehicle.

How many miles are on this car, when was the last time the transmission fluid was changed, and what other modifications do you have done to the car ?

When you say it feels like its "slipping", can you describe it better ? Do you have any "shuddering" feelings like the car is going over rail road tracks when you take off from a stop or during your 2-3 and 3-o/d shifts ?

Hi ya'll thanks for your time! Its in the trans shop as we speak, they said they took the pan off and there was debris so they were going to get into it and see what they could find. They also said they felt this missing and it felt like a seperate issue from the tranny problem. :( 19K 2001 car, I thought I would be safe from any major issues. I got rid of my 91K corvette to get this :(

Anyway, no need to post anything else, originally I was trying to get a ballpark idea of the problem so I would know how long it will be down. Now it looks like for sure through the end of the week, maybe more :nonono:

you got a burnt up tranny, You going to need a complete Clutch replacement, AND MAKE SURE THEY DO A DIAGNOSTIC TEST sounds like you got a bad sensor or solenoid, And OD band needs replaced make sure the do a complete Converter flush and make sure its still good. They sould check the mechanicle diode also. sounds like your Fluid Pressure solenoid is bad or the TCC solenoid is Bad. or both, well the tranny shop should have it done in 2 days work. good luck , let us know how everything went. later
