Tranny problem

ok i've got an 87 gt. i'm certain the 5 speed transmission has never been rebuilt, but its never given me any problems till recently. It shifts alright till i get on it real hard and try to grab 2nd gear. CLANK! A buddy of mine told me it could be the synchronizers going out. Also, when I'm parked in a confined area I can hear it humming until I push the clutch in bout half way. I noticed that today. I'm in the process of building a 347 with a c6 tranny so if this is a big enough problem due to wear and tear i'll probly just say heck with it for now and hope it'll last a little longer. I pulled up on the clutch pedal to make sure there was no slack. what do you guys think?

Same thing happens to me and I've got a brand new T-5 in there, so I doubt it's tranny related. My friend thinks its normal. He's got a z28 six-speed and it does the same thing, but he'll be replacing the clutch soon so we'll be able to tell if thats the culprit. Let me know if you figure it out first. :D
