The car has been running great until recently. When I get on it, I have to BABY it into 3rd. Today I was driving down the road and put it into 3rd and the shifter popped out and went into neutral(I was driving normally). Then when I went to put it into 3rd it made a grinding noise, so I pulled it out and put it back when(didn't make any noise). I took the shifter handle off, and opened it up to see if I could notice anything unusal and there was tranny fluid all over the shifter, and where the stops are located! Anyone experienced this and could give me some help?!?

Yes, it is still under warranty, and yes I have an aftermarket shifter (Tri-Ax) I've had it in the car since about November, but I just started having these problems.
I'm not gonna be able to take in until atleast the 17th to get it looked at though.

Since you have an aftermarket shifter and if the stop bolts were not removed, it could be that they have vaibrated loose and are not allowing the 3rd gear to fully engage. I would think that if that was the case that 1st and 5th would also be a problem though.

Did you keep the stock shifter? If the stop bolts are not the problem on your Tri-ax, I would re-install the stock shifter and take it in for warranty work. If there is a question from them about why the shifter was removed (they will be able to tell) you can say you changed the fluid in the trans and filled it back up by removing the shifter.

Yes it sounds like the 3rd gear syncro is bad lol.
If I were you I would put the stock shifter in before
you take it to the dealer because if they see you have
a Steeda Tri Ax shifter they will void the driveline warranty
and you will be fixing it out of your own pocket if the
Dealership decides to void it.Also after the transmission
is fixed just take out the stock shifter and then put your
Steeda Tri Ax back in.
