i have a t5 and it is making a sort of whining noise... it only does it when the car gets hot and it does it when im shifting...but it also will do it in neautral when at a complete stop.... any idea's???
I'm thinkin it might be more of a throwout bearing problem. When the trans is in neutral and the car is at a complete stop, the only thing spinning is the input shaft. You could have a problem with the input shaft bearing(s) but I would think if that's the case, the noise would be there all the time, not just during shifts and sitting at a stop.
Start the car, let it sit in nuetral. release the clutch. If you hear the sound now, it's the throw out bearing making contact with the fingers when it isn't supposed to. If you hear it when the cluth is depressed, it's the bearing itself. At least that is my understanding of it.
