about a month ago i got my wonderful '07 v-6(standard). i absolutely love the car except for one thing. Half the time i cant even get it to go into reverse. about every other time i turn the car on i go to put it into reverse it either a)wont go period or b)feels like i goes into gear but doesn't go all the way. I can pull until it feels like im about to break the shifter off. do this a few times and eventually it decides to shift into gear. I dont recall this ever happening when the car was hot. it seems to only happen after i let it sit over night. is this a common problem? am i just being an idiot lol. i never had these probs in my Ranger and it was a stick as well.

Thanks guys

P.S. Love the forums. great source of info!

do you just try to go into reverse first? or do you put it into 2nd gear first, then reverse? try the 2nd gear trick and see if that works.

yeah ive tried that. thats usually my first thing. shift back between 1st and 2nd and then try reverse again. It still wont go in on the first try. i have to keep trying until it decides to go in. im just making sure this is some common thing for when i go to the ford dealer and have my oil changed. ill have them look at it, because 2nd gear is pretty rough as well.

I have the second gear issue too. And when its warm outside it tends to not want to engage first gear. I do have reverse issues too but the camaro I had with the T-5 did the same thing so I don't think nothing of it. But the 1st and 2nd issue really pisses me off. I have had in into the shop three times and two seperate dealerships and neither one claim to be able to replicate the issue. I told the service manager that the next time he sees my car it will be on a flat bed becuase I plan to break it!
