tranny whine in reverse

my T-5 shifts thruogh all gears smooth as silk but when I back up I hear a whine it's kinda loud but not loud enough to make me worried....is this normal for a T5 anyone elses do this.

I think reverse has a little more gear whine because its a straight cut gear...

Mine does it too.

So does mine. Straight cut gears whine. That's why many superchargers whine, they have straight cut gears.

My T-5 whines more than my girlfriend does.

Normal in reverse.


If you buy a G-force straight cut gearset, it will do that in all 5 forward gears


Straight cut gears are stronger, but helical are quiet. That doesn't mean reverse is strong though. Your reverse idler is VERY weak
