Tranny won't shift into gear, clutch?

without any warning, the 5 speed 2000 gt, only 45,000 miles will not go into gear, there is some smell. If you force it into gear, there is a hissing sound.
Son is away at college, needs quick advise.

Either you stripped the gear or bent the fork either way your gona have to take it to a shop

clutch

turned out to be just a worn out clutch, I guess previous owner was a clutch rider or something. garage said never seen one wore out this way, there was half the clutch material, but the other side, wore down to rivets.

get this, it was $900 parts and labor, seems a couple hundred high to me.

Uh ya. Clutch only cost $200 for good one. Installation around $250 - $350.
