Does anyone know of a tech article that tells step by step how to change and flush the tranny fluid in my 02 stang? I want to change the fluid to synthetic and Ford wants $100 to change the fluid and filter. Is this easy to do? Also, what mileage should we change the fluid at? If anyone knows a good tech article or can give me a step by step tranny fluid change, it would be most appreciated. Thanks.

You pretty much just pull the valve body cover off, remove the filter, let it drain. You could pull the valve body out and let that drain as well, then put it together with a new filter.

The Chilton's manual will tell you exactly how to do this as well as the steps to take when filling the system back up.

If you're going to do that to it, might as well throw a shift kit in there too. I've got the TransGo kit, and love it - go with the stiffer 2nd gear shift to break the rear end loose!

Change the fluid every 30K miles.
