Trans Am Racing Power Brake Kit?

Hey all--

I was reading about a power brake kit made by Trans Am Racing in this month's Mustangs and Fords. It looks pretty good and straightforward to install. No web site, though and a catalog in the works, but nothing yet.

Anyone have one of these on their 65/66? I'm worried that the booster and dual chamber MC might not fit under the shock tower brace.

Can you do any fab work Paul? If so then save some cash and get a power brake booster out of a 87-93 4 cylinder Mustang. They fit out cars with minor mods and still allow for a dual master cylinder. You just can't have the factory Z-bar type of clutch linkage. You can check out the pictures here if you like:

They are unorganized and some are doubles. I haven't had time to cull bad photos either. I just put these up quick right out of the camera for a friend. You can see that the only real pain is making a new pin for the brake pedal and adding material to the pedal to get the pedal heighth and the pedal ratio correct. Mustang Steve has the pins I think but if you install it his way you will have your brake pedal a little lower than normal....that is your call, I have a manual and did not want the clutch and brake pedal to not be matched plus I wanted the stock pedal heighth because I am not too tall to begin with.

I've had the Trans Am acing booster setup on my car for years (I believe I bought it in 99 IIRC). Mark (the owner) is a real good guy and owns/knows Mustangs. The install is very quick and clean. No clearance issues
He does have a starter website that will at leat show you pics of the booster setup and pricing

GP--Thanks for the update. Will I be able to use my proportioning valve (I have the GT front disk brakes)? Any line fabrication needed? Can you get the MC cap off under your shock tower brace?

I'm glad to hear that he is a good guy. Good to know.

Yes, the cap comes off with no interferance. If you would like some better pics (like straight down to see the relation of the mc to the brace, or any other views) let me know. I think you will need to fab up a couple lines from mc to your existing prop valve, but you best bet would be to talk to Mark for specifics on that.

Sorry I haven't posted the pics yet. I'm in the middle of a move and the computer they are on got moved and I just unpacked it last night. I also don't have an internet connection yet at the new place.Theyhaven't sent the guy out to hook up the cable modem. They don't have a self install option so I have to wait for a "professional" to screw in the coax cable and register the MAC ID of the modem. OK Paul, the cable monkeys finally got their $###%^ together and got my place properly wired. They had an amp in the system and couldn't find it. Finally my connection at my house is live and my server is live.

Here are the pics that show the TA Racing booster in relation to the tower brace. As you can see, even with a stock brace there would be room.

If you don't want to make anything Paul I suggest you get Mustang Steve's setup. It is similar to mine and uses the same booster and is much cheaper than the Trans Am setup. Mustang Steve offers many different levels of kits that should meet your needs and level of fabability, you just have to choose. The best part of one of his kits is you can go to the salvage yard like I did and get the booster for $20 and if you need a new one they are only like $60-70 at rebuilt at the auto parts store.
