trans cooler

Hey guys. Im thinking about getting a transmission cooler, but I have no idea what to get. I see all sorts of different sizes and such.

Also, I saw a cooler from perma cool. You could run 2 fluids through it, like engine and tranny oil. Sounded awsome to me

Also, should I get one with a small fan on it, or is it not even worth it? And I hear people dont like to run rubber hoses, only braided (sp?) steel or whatever.

Somebody point me in the right direction please!

What size? I see 11 x 5 3/4, 11 x 1/12, 11 x 7 1/2, ect.

It sounds hot in Round Rock - I would get the biggest Supercooler that you can. The 24K GVWR unit should work.

I would use a stacked-plate cooler rather than a fin/tube design. And I would not get one with two fluids running through it myself.

I think the b&m uses stacked plates. And yeah, I would get the biggest that would fit.

Why do you say it sounds hot here? Your not wrong btw.

Ive been looking into one also. I've had her slip off the line a couple times when it was hot as balls outside. Ease of install matters to a point, but my main concern is how tall the cooler is. You want as much as possible exposed to cool air under the car, and some of those tall ones seem like they would be way up there.

FMS makes one that is short and wide for this reason, but it has a low GVW rating, and it's twice as expensive.

Still considering all options here...

Reject, I live in Tucson (home of 115* temps and over 30 straight days of super-100*F days this summer) - it was a hunch.

My opinion is that the grill openings in the snout of the car allow sufficient air flow for about any cooler (they get some from the strakes under the bumper, the lower and upper bumper openings/grills).

Do they mount in front or behind the radiator....or are they even anywhere near the radiator? lol

I have mine in front of the radiator. Mine came with plastic ties that I had to run through the radiator. Worked fine, it's not like the damn thing is heavy.

I made brackets to hold mine in front of the radiator too.
