trans gone..what are my options?

Looks like im gonna need to replace my transmission in my 96 cobra. I was just wondering what most people are putting in them besides the t45 which i have no desire to replace. So basically just wondering what my options are and possibly how much money im looking at for them...i'd appreciate any input...thanks.

You can see what I have you would probably need more with the blower, IMO go with TKO 600 or make the jump to a T56 kit for $2400.

I put a viper T56 in my 96 cobra and couldn't be happier. Its not the cheapest by any means but its the best trans I have ever shifted.

I plan on a t-56, with viper overdrive gears. of course, 4:56 gears would come next. tko's are suppossed to be good. not sure about prices though. Good luck

all of the above are good, but with the T56 remember you'll lose some low end gearing since the 1st gears ratio is a lot higher than that on the T45's (2.66vs.3.37)

If I have the money when mine ever goes out a TKO500 or 600 is going back in...

Whatever you do just DO NOT get a 3650 5speed. No matter how good the deal is, even if they give it to you DO NOT get a 3650 5speed.

what do the new cobras have in them? my friend just got an 03, well it has a KB 2.2 on it, and pulls hard in 5th gear, with the stock 3:55 rear end. Must be nice!!!!

The 03/04 cobras have a t-56 tranny if you got the money to spend i would recommend one for your car

Thanks for all the help, i have decided to go with a t-56 so my next question is where is the best place to order one from? Also what else am i going to need to do the swap, i assume a new shifter and driveshaft..? Is everything including in a kit from some places or am i most likely gonna have to make separate purchases for everything i need in doing the swap?

Best place would be D&D performance http://www.ddperformance.com ....They usually have the best prices and they will have everything you need for the conversion...

Tranny

I put a TKO-600 in my 97 Cobra before I traded up and I loved it. It wasn't the smoothest tranny ever but it was very solid.
