trans or clutch problem?
I did a t-5 conversion on my 1990 mustang bought everything new except trans had it rebuilt. it has an adjustable cable with a triple hook quad and firewall adjuster,steel billet flywheel and spec 1 clutch.first try the clutch would not disengage, tried adjusting cable from a little tension to alot and would never let go. tried a different clutch still the same,installed stock replacement cable and still nothing. after measuring and looking and calling we've noticed that it seems that bearing retainer looks like it's really close to friction disc like there's not enough room for friction disc to come back. the trans is out of a foxbody .the measurement from end of retainer to end of shaft is two and half inches. taking a rough measurement from end of bellhousing to the inside of clutch is two and half inches. also the clutch fork is resting on pressure plate with no tension on it can anyone tell me what the problem might be run out of ideas. everyone i talk to can't understand what the problem is.
