I was cruisin through the trap at about 90 mph. As soon as I let off it felt like it downshifted hard then whined REALLY loud like I went into 1st at 90. I was like . Scared the crap out of me. There is no longer a third gear. What was that loud whine??? Could it have down shifted into 1st? I threw me forward HARD. It was one of those "WTF was that!?!?!?!?!?!?!" deals.

Thanks!

Dude that sucks .

Sorry to hear this. Now for the more important question. What to do now
Do you go for another T5 or WC T5, T56, TKO, G-Force T5, AODE, C4.
Believe it or not I know a guy with a Richmond 6spd in his Fox from a Camaro

I think I'm just gonna put the AODE back in since its the cheapest route. Theres AODE's on Ebay from $675 to $950 (4R70W). I figure $400 or so for labor and I'm back on the road.

So any idea what that whine could have been? If I burnt 3rd would it automatically downshift regardless of speed?

Don't know for sure. Once the metal starts flying who knows what happens? In your case it did shift to a lower gear. I know this is no help but that's racing. There's definately a certain badge of honor when you brake stuff though.

Did you have O/D on or off?

The 3rd time I was at the track with my 94, I forgot to shut O/D off and blew my bands completely.

It whined like a blower and threw me forward as well.

In other words, your tranny said bye bye and its time to go shopping!

I suggest the next AODE you put in, make sure it has at the least KEVLR bands and 4r70w internals, torque converter and a hardened input shaft.

Goodluck man,

PEte

O/D was off, I'm sure on that. I'm rethinking the Ebay trans idea. First, I have to pay $125 for shipping and then another $125 to send my old one back for the core refund. It comes with a 12 or 18 month warranty but I have to send it back to wherever it cam from, another $125 each way. Then if I buy the trans from one place and install it at another and something happens I'm gonna get screwed with the blame game (bad trans vs bad install). I need to rethink this. What is the 4R70W comprised of? In other words what questions should I be asking the trans shop? Can they take my stock AODE and put 4R70W parts in it? What should i pay for parts/labor for all this with a convertor? I don't want a race trans, just something that won't break at the track. Its that old fine line between finding a trans for street and strip use. I don't want neck snapping shifts around town.
