Transmission aod and tko

hi
i have maverick gt 73 with :
new 302 ford racing engine 345 hp , 670 cfm holley street avenger
aod :
Advertised Flash Stall Rating : 2500
rear end :
Ring and Pinion Ratio: 3.55

i want to know how much power the car losing because the aod Transmission ?
how much power the stoke aod can handle ?
and what are yours opinion to change the transmission in the car to tko ?

That motor will probably be the death of that aod. I am not sure of its capabilities but people with much less power have been able to break them in close to stock 5.0s. Aod is pretty efficient so I would guess 20-25percent parasidic loss. The TKO is an awesome transmission. I would check over in the classic forum and see if you can fit it in there without cutting though. The tko weighs about 110lbs and is pretty large compared to the 75 lbs t5.

I think the max HP rating on the AoDs was 400ish not quite sure of the exact number could be 400 though. Have seen alot break with quite a bit less then that though, especially if you have a shift kit that bangin WOT shift into 3rd gear is known to snap that intermediate input shaft like a twig. But on the other hand I don't race my AOD but have plenty of fun with it on the street and it is holding up great with 325 or so HP.
