Transmission-clutch issues

I have an 01 GT with an fiore clutch quadrant and firewall adjuster. The car has been sitting over the summer due to repair issues. It has been routinely started to let the oil circulate.

I went to start it the other day and move it so I could begin working on it. I attempted to put it into 1st gear and it would not even go into 1st gear. It wouldn't even go into any gear. I turn the car off and it finally goes into gear. I start it up while in gear and the car leaps ahead like as if I was taking off from a stop light. The clutch will only engage if the car is off.

I repeated this process several times with no change. I even tried adjusting the firewall adjuster in and out with no change. Before the car was parked I never had this problem, even with the firewall adjuster and clutch quadrant.

What is causing this and what can I do to fix the problem?

your clutch is not fully disengaging. you probably need to adjust your firewall adjuster more, or you may have some thing broken. try taking it all apart: quadrant, cable, and firewall adjuster and see what the problem is. if all of those parts are working correctly, then your problem is most likely your clutch fork. it may be bent or off of the pivot ball.
