I have a 89 GT. My 2 transmission lines connected to the radiator are broken. The 2 metal lines. I have 2 more off of a donor car. Can anyone give me some suggestions on how to remove them from the transmission?
Also, good luck getting the old ones out without cutting them & likewise with the new ones. Just get some braided stainless lines or an aftermarket trans cooling kit (everything should be included)
Yes you will want to run a -6an line to the new external cooler, buy the large B&M unit it works very well.
You will need (2) 1/2"NPT-6AN fittings for the cooler, then fittings, hose and hose ends.
To replace the metal hose pull the rad and everything in front of the motor off, they slide in between the motor mounts and K-member, it is tricky but can be done. I forgot to put them in first on a customers car and found out the hard way. Use a flare wrench like you would on your brake fittings.
Does the fox use an intermediate fitting between the actual metal trans-line and the radiator itself? 94-95's do, and that can matter (if so, which part is broken?). The intermediate fitting converts the flare (or whatever it is) to 1/4 NPT (if that rings a bell).
I think I misunderstood the issue - I thought someone snapped the lines off at one of the fittings. It sounds like someone had simply cut his lines, which means the fitting-part does not really matter. (Before, I figured he might be able to get new intermediate fittings and then be able to thread his new lines up).
