I'm considering a 6-speed swap in our 96 Cobra as well as a change to 4:10 gears. Can anybody tell me what difference, if any, there is in the final drive ratio of the Cobra 6-speed versus the stock 5-speed. Also, forgive the stupid question, what model of tranny is in the 96?

Not 100% sure here, but I believe it's the T45 that you have.

If you are looking at the 03+Cobra T56 the gear ratio's are as such:
2.66 1st
1.78 2nd
1.30 3rd
1.00 4th
0.80 5th
0.63 6th

The T45 5th gear is .67

96's have T45's with this gearing:

1st 3.37:1
2nd 1.99:1
3rd 1.33:1
4th 1:1
5th 0.67:1

The T56 has a much taller first gear than a T45, so 4.10's would put you at about the same final ratio as your stock tranny and rear. Here's a cgi script that will let you compare different transmission/rear combos: http://www.svtoa-atlanta.org/cgi-bin/trans.cgi

You might want to consider the Viper T56 instead of the Cobra T56. It has a .5:1 6th gear, so you can run a steeper rear and still maintain reasonable engine rpms on the highway.

If you're looking for pricing, D & D Performance is the best place I found for one-stop shopping on transmissions and conversion kits: http://www.ddperformance.com

This is the man to listen too....I learned a lot of what I know from him. I went with the Viper T56 after comparing the figures on his chart he gave me.

If I haven't said so yet, thanks a million DirtySanchez, for all the info you gave me several months back.
