Transmission is on its last breathe

My auto trans is on its last days. It refuses to shift from 2nd to 3rd without me lifting off the gas. Completly figures, i spend close to $600 to fix the whole ABS system, bent rotor, and miscelaneous stuff and then the car does this. I bought someone elses problem. Anyone know what could be causing the trans to do this?

Change the MLPS sensor, it is a common culprit in the AODEs.

We've got a winner!

I don't see how it could be the MLPS though. The MLPS is just a neutral safety switch, which doesn't allow the car to start in any gear but park or neutral. However I will admit, I know very little about an automatic transmission.
