Have a holley carb and bought the Holley kit to to change linkage so I could hook up the kickdown rod. That accomplished the car now does not shift gears correctly. The car stays in first or second but will not shift into third. If i manualy place the shifter into second then the car will shift. What have I done wrong? Thanks

Likely an adjustment problem, the rod is telling the trans you have the pedal on the floor.

Sounds like an adjustment, but not the kick down rod, the rod that goes from the shifter to the trans. Are your bushings worn out, or have you replaced them recently? The kickdown should only be busy when you go to wide open throttle.
