Transmission Problem

Today when I went to drive my car, I could not get it into any gear. When I turned the car off, i could put it into any gear, but it was sometimes difficult. Then if I started the car with it in gear, then I couldn't get it out of that gear. Does anyone know what could be causing this? It seems to me like it is some type of clutch issue. Thanks in advance.

When trying to put it in gear did it grind or just not physically move enough to get it in gear? Did you try every gear? Reverse?

Also let us know if the clutch pedal has more freeplay than it did before. Your cable might be letting go......

I had this happen once.. the clutch on my truck died, I don't recall the exact failure mode but I couldn't shift at all when the truck was running...

I would look at the cable and quadrant to make sure everything is working right.
