I have picked up this nasty Vibration in my shfter and it carries into the rest of the car. When accellerating it vibrates the whole car in pretty much every gear but 5th. I am suspecting the clutch since when i release it it chatters a bit but it is not slipping and it is properly adjusted. Since i am still at school i havent had the chance to get under the car with a jack to investigate further. One thing i did notice is that when the clutch is pushed in the Bell housing and engine block separate slightly. I have checked the bolts i can reach and they are all tight, However there is a bolt hold right next to where the cable clips on the bell housing, However there is no ear on my Block to put a bolt in. Is there supposed to be a bolt here? Is it possible that at some point in the cars life an ear was broken off the block? I plan to check out the clutch when i got home in 2 weeks but in the mean time i dont want to damage the transmission by subjecting it to the harsh vibrations its getting. The transmission shifts smoothly still and only seems to vibrate when under power. I plan to check the Driveshaft U-Joints tomorrow but its an FMS and i highly doubt i could have damaged it with such little Tq the N/A motor has. Can somebody check their block for that ear and also offer up any suggestions as to what might be causing this vibration. My current conclusion is Cracked/damaged clutch but i am open to check other things.

Well, the trans and block shouldn't be seperating...better figure that out first.

When I had a similar vibration, two of the torque straps on the pressure plate where broke.

yeah, i have tightened the bolts but it looks like there is one missing, and there is no ear on the motor to put one in. Its right where the cable housing attaches to the transmission. If you or someone else can do me a favor and take some photos of the lower attaching points on the tranny i think that would help alot. I am not at home to look at my spare motor to see where the attachments are. Also Pics of you manual transmission crossmember would help. I am currently using a Modified auto crossmember (welded a plate to hold the manual tranny mount on the auto X-member), but it sits a little crooked and i would like to put the correct Manual X-member on but i cant remember if it attaches at the same place or not. Thanks!

One bolt won't matter either way...I've been known to leave a few out on purpose.

Manual x member mounts ahead of the auto x member...different mounts (already on your car).

Ok, cool, thats what i was thinking. I just need to hit the yard and see if i can find one. Or order a double hump. Any idea what might cause the engine and tranny to separate? all the bolts but the one in question are there, and they are as tight as i can make them laying on the ground.
