wait, if i am up under there prying with a long wrench, the wheels spin, even with the e-brake on and it in gear, i dont think i can fit under there to pry on it if the wheels are on the ground...maybe i am too strong???

Try putting a long screw driver in the u-joint to hold it in place.

Try putting a 12mm wrench on there and smacking it with a hammer.

so i tried putting a 12 mm wrench on there, putting a bar on the end for more torque....i ended up bending my craftsman wrench instead of budging the bolt....that bolt is a tight mofo...i put a 1/2 inch to 3/8ths inch reducer on the 12 mm socket and put it on an impact wrench, i broke the reducer thingy...it twisted it right off...grrrr

have you tried some heat? threadlock likes to come off when heated up. a little torch action (very carefully done) can work very well.

good luck.

HEat those bad boys up remember heat expands metal and try sraying them down with some pb blaster of WD 40 for a while see if that help and let them dry before you put fire to them. We don't need any bobo's

are the GT and Cobra transmissions in our cars the same? or are the cobra ones beefed up a bit to handle the extra power?

I was able to take mine out with a 12mm wrench. I'll bet the heat thing will get it done, just be careful as the gas tank is back there. Have you drained the tranny fluid yet? If not, it will puke out once the driveshaft is pulled out.

i actually dont plan on taking the drive shaft out...i think i am just going to swap it all...i think it will be easier that way
so putting a gt tranny into a supercharged cobra wouldnt be the smartest move? i am guessing not now...i just dont have the money right now to go buy a higher performance 5 speed to handle the HPs
approx how long would a freshly rebuild t-5 last me in the supered cobra? taking into account that i wouldnt hammer it down every time i took off....only when people think my car is sick and want to race. (hasnt happened yet and i have had the car for a week)

welp, it is 3:31 am...5 hours later....and i am done!!! i went ahead and put the freshly rebuilt T-5 in my cobra, i know it isnt built to handle all of that power, but at least it will get me through the rest of this summer/fall and next summer and fall i hope. it wasnt too bad of a job, i took some pictures, i dont know how to post them, but i have some...the cobra runs much better now, no tranny whine. no vibrations in 2nd and 3rd gears, and no grinding and sticking in 4th...and when taking the h-pipe off, i bent the hangers so it no longer rubs on the bottom of the car anymore....so no more exhaust vibs either...we will see how long it will hold up to 360+ rwhp, only time will tell.

Yeah stock t5's ate not to fond of big power. It's somewhat of a hit and miss with these tranny's some will last a long time and others will take a crap as soon as you fart hard enough.
