Transmission Type

So i wanted to purchase a short throw shifter MGW, the only thing is that I have no clue what tranny I have? I tried checking the door for the code and its rubbed off..I was under the car looking if it was stamped but its not. I have an 01 GT built in april of 2001 so im not sure if I have the Tremec 3650 or the T45? If I would to call the dealer would they be able to run the Vin number and give that information? Thanks guys
