What bell housing are you using??

I think the flywheel will not work with a MII bell.

Unless someone has done this swap, and done it well, don't believe what you read from them. Seems people read the same bad information enough times that information becomes Gospell. Lots of people can rattle off part numbers and talk a good story. Doesn't mean they know how to put the stuff together. Or what to measure, look for, and watch out for while doing it.

Your dillema is exactly why I do things as assemblies. No beat to fit, paint to match,a no wonder if it's going to come unglued ..... Well, it DOES minimize the 'ungluing' potential.


No, you can't just tap the holes. IIRC Fords (and I've seen too damned many to be certian if it's all Fords) use a shoulder bolt/ bolt with a close tolerance bolt to position the pressure plate on the flywheeel. I'm trying to remember if there are any pressure plates with dowel pins ... they all run together ...

Anyhow, you would need to counter bore each bolt hole then tap it. You would be further ahead to have a machine shop do this for you.

You would be spot on to use a plate and disk matched to the wheel, and a wheel matched to the bell.

I have to agree with wart here. Match the clutch and pressure plate to the wheel. I wouldnt even trust a machine shop on tapping the holes. When those assemblys come apart its very ugly.
