Transmission woes

Well guys if i cant get this transmission (aod) lined out... Im going to have to fork up 900 smacks for a factory rebuild w/ new stock converter

Anyone have any other suggestions that are budget minded... I want the best bang for my buck... I wouldnt be against a different tranny..

I dont plan to put more that 300hp to the wheels im the near future.. So i dont need anything radical

1. 156,000 miles
2. Leaking
3. Shifts out at 3500 rpm in d at WOT
4. When i half throttle in d from a stop.. It goes through first, hits second for about 2 seconds (feels funny) then shifts to third

I just figures it would be a good idea since i dont know the history on it

How about trying a service (fluid and filter) and adjusting the TV cable? (not the TV Cable that you watch) The AOD never shifted real smooth to start with, but if the cable is out of adjustment it gets real bad real fast. I don't recommend you mess with it unless you read how to first or you can make a mess. Its gonna need adjusted with a new AOD anyhow. Where is the leak? Pan gasket during service and a rear seal is easy enough. And to answer your original post at least a little, I would rather have a rebuilt C4 than an AOD and it would likely be cheaper. However you would lose overdrive and lock up.

Well at the moment the whole underside is so oily i cant pintpoint any leaks... Thats why i was pulling the motor and tranny and figured why not rebuild it? I have been looking at the tv cable (not the television) and its missing the bushing at the throttle that it snaps into... I purchased a few things down our help isle to try out when i get off work...

I read the how to article about it.. Seems decently straight up.. Im going to end up attempting it

I had planned on power washing the underside and doing a filter change and tv adjustment...

I was just guaging my options for plan b and c

And i appreciate u inputing on my threads..

This car is a mess.. Lol.. If i remember tonight ill put it up on ramps and snap some underside photos.. And update if any of these dorman help bushings / grommets work
