IF you were planning to do the work yourself then you might decide to drop the transmission to replace just the torque converter.

But if you were paying for a professional to do this large amount of work, likely I would decide to have the entire transmission rebuilt just based upon the car's mileage.

The other issue to consider is it's possible that the torque converter has failed due to fluid contamination. IF true there's a possibility other parts are affected.

141k for an automatic transmission is a fantastic service life. But it's not all that bad nor is it all that un-common for a Ford automatic transmission to fail at that mileage.

My suggestion is to take it to another transmission shop and just ask the question if the transmission could be repaired with just a new torque converter.
