BORING TOPIC, I KNOW!! I just need a little help figuring this problem out once and for all!

Ever since I put my new combo together and got a custom chip burned for it, I can't let my car decelerate normally just by taking my foot off the gas and letting it slow down. When I do this, the exhaust pops and my check engine light comes on until I hit the gas again or push in the clutch, than it stumbles a second and is fine. I've overcome this problem for about a year now by pushing in the clutch and braking EVERYTIME I have to slow down a little or a lot.

I keep getting CODE-15 testing KOEO which is:
1) ECA Read Only Memory (ROM) test failed
2) ECA Keep Alive Memory (KAM) test failed

My idle is somewhat erratic at times at traffic lights (check engine light comes on when the idle drops below 600rpwms) which seems to be linked to this code... I was going to try to remove the chip and see how it runs? Any troubleshooting wizards out there!?!?

Code 15 - No Keep Alive Memory power to PCM pin 1 or bad PCM (Memory Test Failure). The voltage to the Keep Alive Memory (KAM) is missing (wiring problem) or the KAM is bad. The KAM holds all of the settings that the computer "learns" as it operates and all the stored error codes that are generated as a result of something malfunctioning while the engine is running. Use a voltmeter to check the voltage to the pin 1 on the computer - you should always have 12 volts. No constant 12 volts = bad wiring. If you do always have the 12 volts, then the KAM is bad and the computer is faulty.

Before replacing the computer, remove the battery ground cable for about 20 minutes. This will clear all the codes. Retest after several days of running. If the 15 code is gone, then don't worry about it. If it is still there, then you get to do some troubleshooting.

I have read of people getting a ROM code after doing a chip. No personal experience with that though.

JR's advice is right on the dot!

Good luck.

Yea, I gotta take out the chip sometime and see if it goes away running with the stock tune.
