I just got Tremec 3550 and I need to put the new speedo gear in it I got from Steeda to compensate for 4.10's. Where do I put this little bastard? The trans isn't in yet (neither is the engine) so I've flipped this thing around and upside down and can't figue it out. On the driver's side there's the reverse post, a triangular rubber plug, and a cable at the back of the trans. I've taken the cable off and I've pulled the rubber plug out and still don't know. Please help, I'm about to put everything back in the car next weekend. And while I've got this thread going....is there any custom fabrication/modification to the rear trans mount/cross member when installing a Tremec in a 94-95? Thanks

Alright it's a little early but here goes you need that little unit from the T5 should be about in the middle of The T5, The rubber plug on the 3550 is where it goes. replacing the gear is easy, pull the clip off the old gear with a pair of needle nose, that gear should pull right off put yor new one on push that clip back on. put that whole sending unit or whatever you wanna call it into the hole where that trianglular plug is I believe the bolt that holds it into the T5 will hold it on the 3550. that rearward wireing harness is for newer cars with an electronic speedo I would tie it back onto itself and out of the way. the reverse post I believe you mentioned is your reverse sensor/neutral indicator. make sure you jack the tranny up(just trying to muscle it wont get it done) to get all the bracketry back in(the exhaust bracket that is attached to the crossmember) cuz if you dont you will probably get a case of the shakes, also you may still need to shim the tranny up because the output shaft on the 3550 is lower than the T5. you are going to get some vibes in the shifter because there will not be the rubber isolator between the 2 shifter arms thats normal. You may also want to get the aluminum D/S it will also eliminate possibility for bad vibes.

OKay, well I already sold my T5 and it sounds like I needed to take the "sending unit" off. Would this be considered the speedo cable? Do you know what the Ford part # is? Anybody
