I am trying to decide between a Tremec 600 and the T-56. Does anyone have any experience with the two. I like the idea of the 6th gear but will there be too many adjustments to make. I also saw an article that claimed you can't use an X-pipe w/ the t-56 and the trans tunnel has to be hammered out to fit the bell housing. Not to mention the DS has to be shortened 3/4". Bottom line: Is it worth it to get the T-56 over the TKO600? Anyone done this? Lastly, I was happy with ratio of the 1st gear of the stock t-5 and my 3:55 rear. Is this going to change signifigantly to the point where I will have to change the rearend gear ratio? Thanks.

My bro just mulled the same question. The T-56, although it has 6 gears, the top 2 are overdrive gears. So 5th is overdrive, and 6th is over-overdrive. Kinda pointless unless you get it geared so that you have 5 speed gears and 1 overdrive gear.

The sweet thing about the TK0600 is that the overdrive gear is like 0.64 (at least his was) compared to the T-56's 0.62 (I think it's 0.62 on a mustang). So it seems pointless to go with the T-56 when you need all that extra work when the TKO600 will do everything the T-56 will do, minus that inbetween overdrive gear. Needless to say, he went with the TKO600.

the tko-600 1st gear is a little higher, i think they recommend at least a 3.73, thats what i have and its perfect for the 600. i think the t-56 would just be way too much work without any benifits over the 600.
