rgrt, I got a Tri-Ax shifter on it right now, is that a good shifter ? I did notice my pressure plate was bent to hell today, maybe that's what's been making the slow shifting, I'm gonna swipe me up a King Cobra kit & drop in this new motor, tune, then tune & tune some more, thanks again guys your always very helpfull

Yes the Tri-Ax shifter is a very good one. No problem for the help.

The Tremec 3550 is "rated" at 350 ft/lbs. THat's horse ****. I know friends with 500+ wheel HP and run a 3550. They are damn good trannys. I recently bought a 3550. I have broke 6 (yes 6) T-5s in my days... They SUCK. I've had a T-5Z and a so called "World Class".. More like a crap class. I would never buy a T-5 again after having my 3550. It's much much stronger then their rating of 350 ft/lbs.

The Z is the world class right https://www.brothersperformance.com/shop/mustang/fmm7003z.html ?

The transmission I have right now is fine, sure would hate to buy the exact same thing I have right now & What clutch kit, King Cobra ?

So let me get this straight, my stock tranny in my 93 gt is a T-5 the World Class is a T-5 aswell just a beefier one, should I even upgrade or would I be buying the exact same thing I have right nor or waisting my time & should either keep what I got or buy a TKO, I just want a faster shifting tranny, I'm so tired of the stock wait till you let me

There is a lot of confusing information going on here, and most of it is not completely true. Mustang5L5 nailed it right on the head. To reiterate:

ALL V8 MUSTANGS FROM 85-95 GOT THE WORLD CLASS T5, EVERY DAMN ONE OF THEM.

The world class designation is nothing special. I don't care if it's a world class from an 85, or from a 93, they're all weak pieces of ****. They did get a little stronger in 90+, but you'll break it just as easy. the "z" spec t5 is nothing more than a standard world class t5 with the stronger "z" spec. It's still a damn t5, and it'll still break just the same as soon as you start powershifting it. If you want a real tranmission, stay far, far away from ANY t5, unless it's a gforce t5. world class trannies did NOT come with a steel input shaft bearing retainer, you order that aftermarket.

Additionally, to help the original poster, the t5 shifts as smooth as butter, and seriously, it's about as smooth as it gets. If your t5 is shifting notchy, it's likely because your clutch adjustment is too loose, and it's not fully disengaging. Tremec trannies are notchy as all hell, and if you're looking for a quick shifting alternative, stay far away from the tremecs and set your t5 up properly.

And I've heard of 40 year old virgins before, it happens, no doubt. t5's are great transmissions when not abused, but the minute you start abusing them, they're toast.

Yeah, I recently got a TKO 500 and it grinds in 4th and reverse. I also have lots of vibration over 85mph.

Well I picked up a World Class today, I got it from D&D Performance http://www.ddperformance.com/Trans ID chart.htm the model is 1352-251 A/M 79-93 330 Pd Torque 2.95 1.94 1.34 1.1 0.63 gear ratio, appears to be a better one than the factory World Class right ?

OK Ithink I screwed up, above was said a Z T-5 was best & I just founfd the #'s on my tranny & it is F2ZR-770, is this a Z tranny that everyone talks about that is so good ?

If so this Tremec would be a down grade compared to what I got in well out of there now & would need to go back right ?

dude, how much did you pay for it??? how close to d&d are you??

i would have gone for the tremec 500/600 for just a few hundred more. Small price to pay for the extra security. Even if you do have a z spec t5, treat it with respect, cause it'll still break with abuse.
