Tri Ax Shifter Install

Piece of cake. Just don't lose the little black cup on the end of the shifter ball. I almost did, good thing I was sitting on it :)

Also, to break the gasket seal put the shifter handle back on (don't have to tighten the bolts all the way), put it in 4th gear, then pull to the side instead of back. Make it very much easier. I have an installation DVD if you want it :) I didn't even watch it and I really didn't even read the directions.

Hardest part probally was breaking the old shifters seal :D Make sure you have some gasket seal for the new one.

I just did the install Saturday, an easy way to break the seal is to use a small claw hammer, get the claws on the lip of the stock shifter base and pull up..worked like a charm. Oh and a really good tip, i used some rubber from a bicycle tire between the handle and base...helped allot with noise and heat transfer....make sure you use loctite on al bolts..

after you take the stock shifter off, you need to clean the nasty gunk around the rim, where the stocker was "glued" down. MAKE SURE YOU DONT GET ANY DEBRIS INSIDE THE TRANNY AS THERE WILL BE A BIG HOLE RIGHT THERE! that was the only nerve-racking part for me. and i had to have my dad help me pry off the one shifter. i obviously didnt have the right tools, LOL :rlaugh:
