How difficult is the installation of a new Tri Ax shifter in my 02 GT? Any issues or problems to be aware of? Thanks.

Piece of cake. Just don't lose the little black cup on the end of the shifter ball. I almost did, good thing I was sitting on it

Also, to break the gasket seal put the shifter handle back on (don't have to tighten the bolts all the way), put it in 4th gear, then pull to the side instead of back. Make it very much easier. I have an installation DVD if you want it I didn't even watch it and I really didn't even read the directions.

Hardest part probally was breaking the old shifters seal Make sure you have some gasket seal for the new one.

I've done a few of them now, got it down to a little under 15 minute pass.

But yea, the 'hardest' part is breaking the seal from the RTV silicone gasket material.

I just did the install Saturday, an easy way to break the seal is to use a small claw hammer, get the claws on the lip of the stock shifter base and pull up..worked like a charm. Oh and a really good tip, i used some rubber from a bicycle tire between the handle and base...helped allot with noise and heat transfer....make sure you use loctite on al bolts..

I broke my seal by reinstalling the handle and pulling to the side. The install is simple and shouldn't take more than 30 mins.

after you take the stock shifter off, you need to clean the nasty gunk around the rim, where the stocker was "glued" down. MAKE SURE YOU DONT GET ANY DEBRIS INSIDE THE TRANNY AS THERE WILL BE A BIG HOLE RIGHT THERE! that was the only nerve-racking part for me. and i had to have my dad help me pry off the one shifter. i obviously didnt have the right tools, LOL

I didn't need anything to break the seal? Mine came off with just a little pulling on the side.
