I just installed some ceramic coated try-y's I bought from Mustangs Unlimited. Drivers side looks great, but the passenger side not so great. The #1 cylinder tube rubbed the shock tower. I used the old reliable hammer and flattened the tube slightly. I now have about 1/8" clearance or so. It looks great everywhere else. Is this normal, or acceptable ? I'm having the new exhaust done tomorrow, so I won't get to drive it until Friday evening. I'm worried about the header hitting under load. Any experiences out there ? Thanks

mine does the same,but i put a couple of washer under the motor mounts to raise up the engine a little and also made a torq strap so the engine wouldnt rock over.

I've heard of "redesigning" the bends by bolting the headers on without gaskets, then using your foot to apply enough pressure to the collector to bend the tubes. I haven't tried it - use this method at your own risk!!

Have you thought of moving the motor over? Does it look offcentre? There is plenty of left and right adjustment room on the mounts. Just loosen the two nuts from the bottom and lever it over with a 2X4.

I moved mine over just enough like Krash said. It was just hitting the exhaust pipe on the Emergency brake cable bracket.

i had big problems with my tri y's as well. it was hitting everywhere. i shimmed it over and up and took a torch and bent one of the tubes in...

Worst installation ever!

remember that these cars are not dimensionally accurate. you are likely running into "tolerance stack". you can make a few adjustments as mentioned, and run a torque strap as well.
