I am thinking about putting a trickflow stage 1 cam in my car or a stage 2. I was wondering is there a big power difference in the two? Also I want the car to idle good, so which should I put in. I have heard that the stage 1 cam idles good but I havent heard anything on the stage 2. Does any one have the stage 1 or 2 in their car? How does it idle? Do you like the cam?

Thanks,
Dave

What heads you're using will decide which one will make more usable power.

Stage 1 idles okay. It's still gonna hit a lick though. Haven't heard the Stage 1. Know a friend with the Stage 1 and he loves it. Heard nothing but good things about it.

you mean you haven't heard the stage 2? i was thinking about the stage 2, but i still have stock heads. i wanted it because i like to change things once...so i think it would be better for future upgrades...how will a stage 2 do with stock heads...what about a stage 1? personally i don't WANT it to idle "stock-like", i want it to make it SOUND like i have a cam, lol...

If you want to change things once your best bet would to get heads and stage 2 cam installed all at once. I doubt that cam will work until you upgrade anyway. Saves you time if your doing it or money if someone else is.

Yeah, I meant Stage 2 lol. I'm willing to bet you'd lose power with the Stage 2 all thoughout the rpm range. Sorry. Stage 1 you'd gain some top end and lose some bottom end but I think you'd be happy with it.

My friend's 93 cobra has AFRs 165s, Tmoss ported Cobra intake with a Trick Flow stage 1 and that thing is a monster, pulls hard! The stage 1 sounds good not overly noticeable, but you aren’t going to fool anyone that you don't have a cam. His car drives great, no bucking or stalling at low rpms.

I have the Trick flow stage 1 cam and the Twisted wedge heads.. awesome combo.. cam sounds SWEET and idles a little rough... but everyone on the street yells at me at stop lights that my car sounds sweet... so I say do it.. power and sound is great.

well, i might stick with the stage 1 as well...anyone have any other cam suggestions? i am using the car as a daily driver/weekend warrior pretty much. i want a nice, lumpy idle, but i want the performance to match. i am most likely saving up and going to do H/C/I at the same time...so what kinda bumpstick do you guys think would suit me best...?

depends on what heads you get and if their ported or not.. also depends on what other componets you want to have or already do have.. but you need to think about rpm range you want to be in also.. you don't want a cam that has a power band at 7000 in a street car.. just not practical... stage 1 cam and tfs heads is hard too beat.
