Trick flow heads: good head(the best?)

Ive been looking into heads. I see that the trick flow heads are cheaper, what would be the best model of tf's for a stock engine, h/c/i, and what cam is good with those heads and a trickflow intake(street heat)? Also, whats up with you gotta use "indexed rockers" and "longer pushrods" with em///. do you ahve to do that with afr's? thanks!! im tryin to decide!

I htink theyre prob the best for the money on a mild-moderately modded car.

You can go with their stage 1 cam, or a steeda #19.

If Im not mistaken, I think you can buy the whole kit.

Unless something has changed recently, the only difference between the street and track heat heads are upgraded springs. That being said, it sort of depends on your cam selection I guess as to which one is right for you. As for what intake, are you still running the stock bottom end? If so, how do you feel about reving it over 6000rpms? If you don't want to, then stick with the street heat. If you want more of a top end charge and don't care about shifting over 6000rpms and losing some low end, the go with the track heat, but just remember the car will need to be cam'd and geared accordingly.

In most cases, you do not need different length pushrods with AFR's. If you go with their pedestal mount heads you can re-use the stock rockers and pushrods if you so desire, but I don't know why you'd want to.

yeah, why does it say you have to use longer push rods on the tf's? I bet there cam works good with there heads. Yeah i do have the stock bottom end. Im thinking of this combo: Typhoon/trick flow twisted wedge/ tf cam, what do you think, anything better? I dont ahev the throw down to do the kit now, so im gonna get an intake, then in summer maby heads.

Edelbrock Performers might be a little better since those can be had for a cheap price also. About the same price as the TFS, but the revised casting is supposed to be better, copying the AFR design. If you're looking for heads in the $1000 range the Edelbrocks and TFS can't be beat.

I have seen several nasty trick flow combos on 95s making 320s to the wheels

actually one of those guys has the cam from that setup for sale. and not its not very agressive. an old AFM B2 and an CNCed edlebrock performer

Should i go for the regular performer, or will that better suit the heads? Also, with the new edlebrooks, do you need new pushrods, etc? thanks

That depends on your gearing, weight, rpm's you wanna spin to and overall powerband. With 373's and a (probably) 3500lb race weight, i'd go with a performer or a TFS street. I prefer something custom for a cam, but if not, look into something from comp's xe line. Cant help with Prod size, but if you go with stud mount heads (which IMO, you should) you will need hardened Prods.

The typhoon intake is plain crap in my opinion. A buddy of mine bought one for his 302 miata buildup. There is molding debris all over the outside and the inside runners are quite rough. It's going to take some machine work just to get it to flow at all. The Trickflow street heat intake can be had for as low as $350 if you do a little searching.
